Transfer Roundup 1/29

We are two days away from the end of the window and the Arsenal Secret Service, or the fanbase as most know them as, have done what they do best... eerily track and pull information of thin air. Photos have recently surfaced of Alexander Isak and fellow Sociedad teammate, Adnan Januzaj, in London at a shopping mall and nightclub. Furthermore, and this is where it gets weird, a photo of a Rolls Royce came about with the license plate "I5 AAK". Naturally, this prompted the Arsenal fan base to dig deeper and it appears that the car was bought and registered this month in London. Certainly suspicious. I know footballers make loads of money, but surely they don't just buy cars on holiday do they?

I mentioned in my transfer post before this that I did not think we would be activating his release clause due to the price (what I thought was €90m could be even lower and in the €70-75m range). Hopefully Edu and Arteta make me eat my words. If true, the latter price range is way more feasible than the former, especially when this was close to the fee we had already supposedly agreed upon with Fiorentina for Vlahović.

There is a lot of hype around Isak and it is clear to see why. He is young, exciting to watch, and has this sort of silkiness to his play. He has registered eight goals and two assist so far this campaign and generated a lot of buzz with his performances for Sweden at Euro 2020 (two assists in four matches). It is worth mentioning also that Ødegaard spent a season with Isak at Sociedad during the 19-20 campaign; one in which resulted in 21 goals and 11 assists between the two. If the board can get this done, I am hopeful Isak is the sort of striker that can push us into the top 4 this year, but make us title contenders in years to come. Maybe former Arsenal and current Sociedad GK, Maty Ryan, can put in a good word for us.

Reports have come through surrounding Aubameyang by way of Barcelona and Juventus, with the former having already agreed to terms for a loan supposedly. This is a move that makes sense in my mind. There is no need to keep Auba if Mikel has no plans for him, which appears to be the case. The player gets his move to another big club and we get his wages covered; win-win. Besides that, I saw something regarding Xhaka to Roma again, which would be ridiculous given our lack of depth at CM. Love him or hate him, we do play better when he is in the side not making boneheaded mistakes. We cannot afford to lose him now I don't think.

Time is ticking, let's see what continues to develop. Until then, come on you Gunners!
